ad manager questionbest way to do it, do i write it myself or get a control. Problem is there are way too may of them out there and they all claim to be good. Here is what i need for my asp.net 2.0 site. I can do all of this myself, but i hear there are some restrictions in the 2.0 rotator control, and it will take perhaps more time to write my own, meaning it may be cheeper to just get someone elses system. Can any one recomend one they have used with the features below or advise me on the best way to create a flexable system myself? 1. Multiple ads on each page 2. different ad groups on each page. 3. different weighted rotation rate per ad 4. ads will timeout after preset number of clicks 5. need to track the clickthroughs. 6. provide reports to customers who purchase space. any advice would be appreciated -- thanks (as always) some day i''m gona pay this forum back for all the help i''m getting kes My advice would be to go strickly with Google Adsense. Its a prepackaged
solution that has worked very well for lots and lots and _lots_ of websites. You could put a lot of effort into reinventing the wheel... but frankly I'd question the return on that effort. You might also want to look at Google Analytics... a great website statistic reporting package (free). The combination of the two provide considerable value. One nice thing about Adsense is that it is a direct line to customers. There are customers out there that are ready to buy advertising on your site right now... you don't need to contact them, negiotiate a price, handle payments, or any of the nitty gritty details involved in selling advertising (not to mention the challenges around handling disputes). That's my $0.02 worth (actual cash value $0.0000001, not valid in all States, offer void where prohibited, skill testing question required). we are purchesing google ads now., but we want to sell ads on our site. I don't believe we can co-opt the google tech for our own purposes? and use the solution apart from google. -- Show quotethanks (as always) some day i''m gona pay this forum back for all the help i''m getting kes "Rob MacFadyen" wrote: > My advice would be to go strickly with Google Adsense. AdSense. If your site is on the public internet you can use AdSense to place ads on your website... for free... google _pays you_ a percentage of the revenue they collect from ad buyers when consumers click on an ad displayed on your site. AdSense supports text ads and image ad (banners, skyscrappers, inline, etc etc).
